Castlepoint Shopping Park, Bournemouth, England
Art directed by Bridie Cheeseman
Connect at Castlepoint was an outdoor community space designed to encourage people to pause, connect and spend time together throughout the summer. Located outside M&S at Castlepoint Shopping park, the installation includes 4 summer houses similar to beach huts and was inspired by the different ways people experience and connect with the world, creating a space that celebrates curiosity and choice, creativity, inclusion and the many different ways people connect. Each summer house has its specific visual communication, and we wanted the given grid composition to also reflect connection.
Every Wednesday throughout August had a programme of free events including creative workshops, music performances, a magic show, and an interactive circus skills workshop. Sprinkled around the house are motifs referencing some of these activities
The inside of these summer houses also doubled as exhibition spaces for work by recent Illustration graduates from Arts University Bournemouth. Exhibited is work from Maddie, Oleksandra Hudkova and Connie Ng.
