Baiter Park

Commissioned by BARI (Birds and Recreation Initiative)
In collaboration with Arts University Bournemouth

April 2026
Baiter Park, Poole, England

Collaborative mural designed alongside Sophie A. Smith,  Beth Savil, and Mae Haywood.

Art directed by Bridie Cheeseman.

Baiter Park is one of Poole harbours busiest sites, especially for dog walkers. It is seen by the visitors as a ‘recreation ground’ and this is backed up by the fact it is used in the summer for the Fun Fair and music festivals. With BARI’s bold coulours, this mural aimed to make park-goers aware of who they were sharing the space with.

From September to March Baiter Park is home to internationally important numbers of Dark Bellied Brent Geese as well as many other interesting and protected species like Black Tailed Godwits, Ringed Plover and Turnstone.

The project aims to spark curiosity, drawing in people who might not usually care about birds or nature. By doing this, we can transform the way everyone sees the park: not just as a recreation ground, but also as a special place for nature.

Species featured:
